The Gloom has crept over Lantern Hollow and four great dragons have lost their way. Take Burrbun, the little bunny from Moonlit Meadow, on a side-scrolling run through four lantern-lit lands. Leap, glide and dash past gloomed critters, find the hidden Star Shards, and set every dragon free.

How to play

From Lanternlight Lane to the summit

Each land has two stages and a dragon at the end. Clear a stage and the next lantern on the map lights up.

  1. Open the game

    Press Start on the title screen. Sign in with claude.ai if you want your progress on every device, or just play as a guest.

  2. Pick a stage

    Walk the world map from lantern to lantern. Each stop shows how many Star Shards you've found there.

  3. Run, jump, swing

    Hold Jump to go higher, hold Run to build up speed, and swing your lantern to bash blocks and gloomed critters.

  4. Free the critters

    Stomp or bash a gloomed critter and it shakes off the Gloom. Glow boxes hide motes, berries and the odd extra life.

  5. Light the checkpoints

    Touch a checkpoint lantern halfway through and you'll restart there if you fall. Reach the goal lantern to clear the stage.

  6. Wake the dragon

    Every land ends with a dragon lost in the Gloom. Stomp its head or hit it with your lantern until it remembers who it is.

The lands

Four lands, one long night

The backdrops and critters come straight from Lantern Hollow, so every land should feel familiar if you've played the idle game.

Land 1

Moonlit Meadow

Burrbun's home turf and the gentlest start. Soft hills, glow boxes and your first gloomed critters.

  • Learn to run, jump and swing your lantern

  • Beat Verdragon to learn the Ear Glide

Mistwater Marsh

Fog, reeds and deep bog water. Glide across the gaps and ride the updrafts.

  • Hold Jump inside a wind column to ride it to the top
  • Glubbles, Mistnewts and Bogwisps lurk in the fog
  • Beat Mirewyrm to learn the Lantern Dash
  • 2-1 Reedwater Crossing
  • 2-2 Fogwillow Hollow

Land 3

Ember Hills

A volcano that never sleeps. Lava pools, flame vents and crumbling rock.

  • Time your dash between bursts from the flame vents
  • Ashmoles, Cindermoths and Magmallows guard the slopes
  • Face Infernox, the dragon who fights from the sky
  • 3-1 Cinder Slopes
  • 3-2 Magma Vaults
  • 3-3 Infernox's Caldera

Land 4

Starfall Peak

The last climb, under the aurora. Slippery ice, freezing water and the toughest platforming in the game.

  • Ice keeps you sliding, so plan your stops
  • Frostbuns, Snowfinches and Galewings on the wind
  • Glaciarch waits at the summit with the most hearts of any dragon
  • 4-1 Frostbloom Ridge

The gloomed dragons

Each land's guardian dragon is lost in the Gloom. Freeing one gives Burrbun something to keep.

The world map

A dotted lantern trail links every stage. Come back any time to replay a stage and hunt for the shards you missed.

Three heroes

Start as Burrbun. Star Shards unlock more of Lantern Hollow's critters as playable heroes.

Linked with Lantern Hollow

The two games can trade link codes. Paste a code from Lantern Hollow on the title screen and Burrbun gets a daily gift of three extra lives and a Glow Berry, plus bonus lives for every dragon you've woken there.

Lantern Hollow gets moonstones back in return, and linking also unlocks Kitsubi as a hero.

Good to know

The words you'll see

Glow motes
Little floating lights. Every 100 you collect earns an extra life.
Star Shards
Three per stage, often hidden. They unlock new heroes.
Glow Berry
A power-up from berry boxes. It stays with you between stages until you lose a life.
The Gloom
The purple haze that has taken over the critters and dragons. Your lantern clears it.
Checkpoint lantern
Light it to restart from the middle of a stage instead of the beginning.
Link code
A short code you swap with Lantern Hollow for gifts in both games.

In the works

Still being built, and you can play along

Burrbun's Lantern Quest isn't finished. The whole adventure is playable from start to end today, and it keeps getting updates. Levels, balance and controls may change before the full release.
